We currently ship migration paths for the four sources where most of our inbound questions originate. If you’re moving from a different tool — Mattermost, Rocket.Chat, Element/Matrix, Zulip, or something else — the data export from those tools is generally compatible with our import pipeline; the work is in writing the runbook.

Honest framing — what migration actually looks like
- Most teams take 1 week. Multi-account on web means you keep both tools open during the transition.
- Some channels stay behind. Especially cross-org channels (Slack Connect, Teams external chats) — those are v2 commitments for us.
- Custom integrations may need rebuilding. Slack-marketplace bots and Teams apps don’t transfer; we ship 20 launch integrations in v1.1 covering the most-used.
- Voice/video are not native in v1. We integrate with Jitsi/Whereby. Native voice is a v2 commitment.
- You keep your data. Within 30 days of cutover, you can request a full export in source-tool-compatible format. After that, our portable format.
